transmission low power and stalls car

hello i have a 2000 subaru legacy limited gt. I i bought the car with a blown head gasket replaced them with six star head gaskets and bent the transmission pan in the process. I broke the line pressure control solenoid which i read was pretty common mistake when pulling these motors. I replaced the solenoid after the car went into limp mode and i was stuck in third gear. but now the car acts like its stuck in overdrive or something it has no power at takew off and when you let off the throttle to coast to a stop it will often stall the motor out.

My mechanic said my 98 Subaru Legacy has an upper engine oil leak, and it wouldnt be worth repairing it.

Just drive it until it dies, and get another car.

Isnt there any reasonable way to repair my 98 Subaru so I can keep it?

I saw Lucas has an engine oil stop leak, would that work?

07 Legacy 2.5i - 125K miles. Dashboard temp gage was running higher than normal (but Not in 'red" zone) after idling with A/C on. I determined that the driver's side electric fan is not coming on (passenger side comes on and cycles with A/C compresor like normal). Does this mean that my driver's side electric fan motor has gone bad OR could this be something else (please specify).

Hello all, I bought this used, a 10 year old fleet vehicle with ~73K miles. It now has 123K.

Recently one of the timing belt idlers (the one nearest the water pump) chewed itself up and caused a belt failure.

My daughter had just gotten back from borrowning it and told me "it was hard to start". I started it, and when I heard that can of rocks sound, I turned it off. 15 minutes later I tried to start it without success.

Are knocklink sensors compatible between models?

Hi, my 2000 Legacy (Liberty here in Australia) GX wagon is throwing code 22 which I believe is the knocklink sensor.

What I'm wondering is the knocklink sensor interchangerble between models? As I have a couple spare, one from a 97 WRX, another from a 94 RS, and another from a 90 GX Legacy.

Mercon III in my 07 4eat?

Hi, Noobie here

My local shop just flushed my 07 Legacy 2.5i (non turbo) and replaced the fluid with Mercon III. I was first told that they use Subaru approved trans fluid. After questioning them, they said that Subaru said it was ok to use Mercon III.

Is this fluid OK or should I have them re-flush with????

Have a 97 Legacy 2.5 GT 4eat, won't shift out of 1st gear. Will drive in 1st and reverse only, tranny fluid is correct level, not burnt, no CEL, At temp light not flashing. Any advice on what to check before replaceing the tranny would be helpful. Thanks

I recently bought a 2002 Outback Legacy AWD Wagon from a friend who doesn't know that much about cars. This will be my first Subaru so I have one question to start with. This is the 4cyl 2.5 w/auto. The motor has some piston slap, especially when it's cold. I've been told that this is normal for these motors and it's really nothing to worry about. Although I trust my sources, I'd like some other opinions on this. It only has around 102k on it which should be fine. What do the experts here think about this?

99 Legacy Outback Shift Problem

Hi all,

I just bought a 99 Legacy Outback today. The car drives pretty well most of the time but, sometimes when I need to step on it a bit, the transmission thumps really hard. Kind of scary actually. I think it happens when it is downshifting. This is more than hard shifting. It's pretty violent. I owned a 2000 Outback for 10 years. It never shifted like this. If I am steady with the gas, it seems to shift nice and smooth. The car has 128000 on it and the transmission was flushed last November. Does this sound like rebuild or new transmission situation?

99 Legacy intermittent OBDII code P0325 - what's going on?

My 99 Legacy 2.2L has about 80K miles on it. Recently the Check Engine Light started coming on now and then, especially when the weather turns from "seasonal" for northern US to "freakishly warm", i,e. above 50 degrees.

I've removed and inspected the knock sensor visually, and detect no cracks or other obvious damage. I have traced out the wiring, and I know I need to do some electrical checks. Verify no grounds, or shorts in signal or shield wiring, nominal voltage 2.8 volts at ECU, and some where I read there is a resistance spec for the sensor itself, somewhere above 500 K ohms.

Hey guys,

I need to replace the turn signal switch on my Legacy 2007 and I am not sure about the appropriate way of doing it. One of the heads up that I have learned so far is to make sure that I have to disconnect the car battery, as well as I need to make sure that the SRS on the driver's side is not blown out. Has anyone done this before on their car?

Trans rebuild (no 4th gear)

I rebuilt a spare 4eat phase 1 I had and swapped it out for one that had blown (hard failure, lost 3rd and 4th, R). The spare had the problems of no third or fourth when it was taken out. Also reduction driven gear failure, replaced.

Rebuild went smoothly. Operation, once completed, resulted in firm shifting, and no fourth gear.

Diagnosis showed bad duty solenoid C, replaced.

bad dropping resistor, replaced.

for the record all replacement parts are tested for proper resistance, etc before installation.
